Kogi Women Harp on More Attention to Girl Child Education

Parents in Kogi State  told to give priority to the Education of their girl child  towards marking the society a better place.

Kogi State Vice Chairperson of Jam’iyyan Matan Arewa, Hajia Hadiza Sule made the call at a one-day advocacy Sensitization for female Secondary School students on the relevance of Girl Child Education and Dangers of Drug Abuse in Lokoja.

Hajia Hadiza said the need for giving adequate attention to female education can not be over emphasized, saying that educating a girl child is educating a community.

The Vice Chairperson advised students to be dedicated to their studies, stay away from peer group, respect their parents, teachers and  constituted authorities.

Guest Speaker at the occasion, Ms Eunice Agbogun,  who spoke on the Relevance of Girl child Education noted that attention must be given to female education and advised the students to believe in themselves and kick against social vices in the society.

Ms Agbogun, who is the Executive Director Challenge Parenthood Initiative,  maintained that Educating a girl would help reduce gender based violence in the society and challenged parents to live up to expectations in the education of the girl child.

A Retired Permanent Secretary in Kogi State Civil Service, Hajia Ramatu Baba challenged the girl child to have focus in life, describing them as a special gift from God that need to be given attention and advised them to stay away from drugs and other social vices.
