Senator Sunday Steven Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, recently welcomed cooperative society leaders from Yagba Federal Constituency to his country home.

The leaders visited to express their gratitude following the release of a substantial business relief fund, totaling 100 million naira, designed to support fifty cooperative societies within the senatorial district.

In his absence, Senator Karimi was represented by his wife, Mrs. Stellamaris Karimi, who reiterated his commitment to the welfare and economic empowerment of women in the district.

Speaking on behalf of the Senator, Mrs. Stellamaris Karimi assured the women that the disbursement of the 100 million naira fund was not a one-off initiative.

Rather, it is part of a long-term strategy to uplift the economic conditions of women across Kogi West.

She emphasized that the business relief program would be replicated annually to ensure continued support and growth for businesses in the area, further underscoring the Senator’s dedication to empowering his constituents, particularly women.

This year’s initiative benefitted eighteen cooperative societies from the three local government areas in Yagba Federal Constituency—Yagba East, Yagba West, and Mopa-Amuro.

Each society received two million naira in business grants, aimed at enhancing their capacity to sustain and expand their enterprises.

This financial assistance is expected to contribute significantly to the overall economic development of the region. The initiative also extended to the remaining four local government areas within Kogi West, ensuring equitable distribution of the relief funds across the district.

Leaders and coordinators from Yagba Federal Constituency expressed their profound gratitude for being beneficiaries of this impactful scheme. Mrs. Obajemu Mercy Bukola, representing Mopa-Amuro, Hon. Eunice Omowumi Balogun of Yagba West, and Hajia Kudirat of Yagba East praised the initiative. They acknowledged the positive impact the grant has had on their cooperative societies and the economic well-being of their members.

Senator Karimi’s business relief fund underscores his commitment to economic empowerment, particularly among women, in Kogi West Senatorial District.

The planned annual replication of this program signals a sustained effort to build a stronger, more resilient local economy, fostering growth, self-reliance, and community development across the district.
