Ondo State: Gunmen Attack Police Station in Ipele, Near Owo

Gunmen have attacked the Ipele Divisional Police Headquarters in Owo, setting the facility on fire and destroying several exhibits.

 

Adaba FM reports that the  attack occurred at about 9:41 p.m. on wednesday, December 31, 2025, when between 20 and 30 armed men stormed the station, firing assault rifles and detonating explosives.

 

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed that dynamite was used during the attack, leading to the destruction of the police facility.

 

A statement by the command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh say no life was lost in the incident.

 

The statement also dismisses reports claiming that a church was attacked, stressing that the attack was targeted at the police station alone.

 

It condemns the attack, describing it as a reprehensible act against peace and security in the state.

 

The statement assures residents that the situation is under control and urged them to remain calm.
