The Provost of Kogi State College of Education Ankpa, Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba FCNA has applauded the Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria for its immense contributions to peace and nation building.
Dr. Fashagba in an interview on the sideline of the first Session of the sixth Synod of Ijumu Anglican Diocese held at Ogale -Idioro described the Anglican Church as a pillar of Christianity in Nigeria, which has done a lot to uphold unity of the Nation through prayers and annual Synod.
According to him, the Anglican Church has over the years been a partner in progress with the Government in sustaining peace and progress of the country.
The partnership he noted has gone a long way in curtailing security challenges in the nation.
He explained that Anglican is the foundation of Education in Nigeria as most academic institutions started as missionaries.
Dr. Fashagba stated that the Ijumu Anglican Diocese in particular has over the years has invested immensely in the Education Sector especially the ongoing construction of Ijumu College of Nursing Sciences Ogidi, establishment of Secondary Schools as well as Nursery and Primary Schools.
He added that the theme of the Synod “Thanksgiving” is apt aimed at reawakening the consciousness of the people to appreciating God always.
The Provost expressed optimism that for Ogale-Idioro to have hosted the Synod is a sign of a good omen for the Community after over 100 years of Christianity.
