The management of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, has approved the expulsion of two students over involvement in gay practice, and the rustication of four others for one academic session over fighting on campus.
The disciplinary measures were approved at the 31st regular meeting of the university’s Senate, held at the Faculty of Law Lecture Theatre, following recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.
In letters addressed to the affected students and signed by the Deputy Registrar, Academics, Eli Gbadafu, the institution said the sanctions were taken in line with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook, Second Edition, as amended in 2025.
The expelled students are Onumoko Hamza of the Biology Education department and Abdulazeez Eneji of the Mining Engineering department, both found guilty of gay practice.
The four rusticated students — Favor Akowe (Microbiology), Simbiat Babamuharuna (Biology), Zainab Omayoza (Biochemistry) and Sukura Bukola (Biochemistry) — were sanctioned for fighting.
The university management reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, order, and a conducive environment for teaching and learning, warning that it would not hesitate to take decisive action against any student found to have violated its rules.
It urged students to familiarise themselves with the Students’ Handbook and conduct themselves in line with the institution’s regulations.
