A former Deputy publicity Secretary of the opposition People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi has emerged as the Chairman Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), in Kogi State.

Abdullahi was elected on Saturday in Lokoja alongside eight other executives who are members of various political parties.

In his acceptance speech, Abdullahi appreciated the 19 political parties for seeing him worthy to head CNPP, noting that, his emergence signals a new dawn for the politics of Kogi State.

While noting that his administration will engage in constructive criticism for a better Kogi State, the PDP Chieftain added the present administration should put all measures in place to tackle the spate of insecurities.

His words”My emergence as CNPP Chairman is a great milestone for the politics of Kogi State. It is now time for us to match our words with action. That is why, I am assuring the people of Kogi State that, it will no longer be business as usual. The present administration led by Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo should not see us as enemies but rather as friends who are fully ready to pilot Kogi State to a greater height.

” Let it be on record that we are not anti Government, but an association who will continue to engage in constructive criticism for good governance in Kogi State. It is on this note CNPP is drawing the attention of Kogi State Government to address the growing insecurities across the State. Over the years, we have enjoyed peace were we could sleep with our two eyes closed. But presently, things are falling apart.

“There is killings, kidnapping, armed robbery everywhere. The killings of innocent people in Agojeju-Odo in Omala Local Government is barbaric, satanic, cruel and unacceptable in a sane society. What about the Anyigba bank robbery, kidnap of expatriate in Okehi Local Government, kidnap of Chief Imam in Ijumu, robberies in Felele axis of Lokoja, to mention but a few. This are all fresh in our minds.

“The Government should act quickly to nip this in the bud. Am happy that the Kogi State Governor recently announced that the sponsors of the attack in Agojeju-Odo in Omala Local Government has been arrested. This is a good news. But, the government needs to go beyond arresting them but ensuring that they face the full wrath of the law”.

The new CNPP Chairman in Kogi State also appealed to the Kogi State Government to intervene in the high cost of living, stressing that, the economic hardship is biting harder on the people.

“The cost of living is really high in Kogi State. Landlords, traders in the market keeps tripling their prices of goods. We all know that there is inflation in Nigeria, but what we are experiencing in Kogi State is condemnable, ridiculous and unacceptable.

“The traders are extorting the people. How much is the monthly income of workers or the daily earnings of the people of Kogi State? It is not a good news that Kogi State has the highest rate of inflation in Nigeria. The government should come to the aide of the people before things goes out of hand. By doing this, the people of Kogi State will forever be grateful to Ododo led administration” he added.

He reassured the present administration towards a robust relationship in moving Kogi State forward.
