As the 2023 General elections draw nearer, the Bishop of Ijumu Diocese, Anglican Communion, Church of NigeriaAnglican Communion, Church of Nigeria, Rt. Rev’d Paul Ojo has advised Nigerians to get their Permanent Voters’ Card and participate actively in the electoral process.
Rt. Rev’d Ojo gave the advice in his charge at the 3rd Session of the Fourth Synod of the Diocese held at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Iyara with the theme “Walking in the Light.”
The Anglican Bishop said not participating in electoral process is an act of disobedience to God and constituted authority.

He maintained that while preparing to participate actively in the next general elections, they must seek the face of God for the right leadership that would stem the challenges bedeviling the country.
According to him, the insecurity, economic and other challenges facing the nation can only be surmountable when the people live upright and elect men of impeccable character into positions of authority.
“You see in this coming election, the church is taking the lead in sensitizing our members to get their PVCs and vote in the next election, they will vote for credible, godly, God fearing candidates and not just anyhow person.”
” We will pray and we trust that God will give us the right leader this time around because the hardship and insecurity is too much in Nigeria.
On the theme of the Synod, the Bishop admonished the congregation to live upright lives and avoid all kinds of wicked ways of life.
“There is wickedness in this country, killings, kidnappings , bombings, corruption and so on are on the increase in Nigeria, we need to change a new leaf.
He however disclosed that the diocese under his watch has recorded significant improvement spiritually, infrastructure and population, pointing out that as a Church, it has embraced agriculture as a way of revenue generation.
According to Rt. Rev’d Ojo, the Diocese has purchased land for the cultivation of cassava and palm trees aimed at adding value to the food security of the country.
