The 2023 Kogi State Action Alliance Party (AA) gubernatorial candidate, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh, has urged the state government to reconstruct the Edumo-Okeoffin-Ayede-Olla-Iluke Road without delay.

He made the statement at the celebration of the 100th year of birth and the 64th reign anniversary of HRM, Oba Joseph Adebayo Ikusemoro, the Olu of Bunu land. Braimoh emphasized that the only way that the region can be civilized and developed is through the improvement of the infrastructure with the road.

In a speech, he said, “On behalf of myself, I wish to extend my congratulations to our royal father on the momentous occasion of his 100th birthday and 64th coronation anniversary as the Olubunu of Bunu land. I pray that God will keep you going, Sir.”

Referring to a previous speaker who said that Bunu land was like a jungle, Braimoh jokingly asked the audience if they agreed that the community was out of the jungle, to which they answered with a loud No! He then, in a lighter tone, told the Deputy Governor, who had come on behalf of the state governor at the event, that, “The condition of our roads throughout Bunuland is deplorable and long overdue for reconstruction. Besides, this situation is one of the remote causes of the banditry and insecurity that are rampant in the place. I am urging the state government to make the urgent repair of these roads, especially the Edumo-Okeoffin-Ayede-Olla-Iluke Road, their first priority. Those appointed to the state government from Bunu should, without delay, use their positions and nearness to the state governor as tools to facilitate the road’s reconstruction.”

Besides that, he urged the sons and daughters of the land to come together in one accord for the fast and sustainable transformation of the community.

Braimoh is a native of Akutupa Kiri in Bunu, which is within the Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of the state, and he was the Contact and Mobilization Committee’s chairman for the event.
