The Ekinrin Community National Association (ECNA), in collaboration with the Ekinrin Traditional Council, is pleased to officially announce June 13, 2026, as the date for the annual Akinrin Day Celebration.
The announcement was made in a statement by Hon. Monday Oshatoba, Publicity Secretary, ECNA after the community’s monthly meeting, presided over by HRM Oba Johnson Kolade Otitoju, Egbo Lona I, the Akinrin of Ekinrin Land, alongside the National President of ECNA, Hon. Duro Omonola.
A major highlight of this year’s celebration is the expansion of the Akinrin of Ekinrinland Educational Foundation’s academic competitions. Under the visionary leadership of HRM Oba Otitoju, the annual Inter-School Debate and Essay Writing Competition will now evolve into an inter-regional event. For the first time, schools from Nigeria’s Western and North Central regions will participate, broadening the platform for intellectual engagement and promoting academic excellence across a wider audience.
To ensure a successful celebration, Comrade Aribido David Jayeoba has been appointed Chairman of the Planning Committee. Speaking on the forthcoming event, Comrade Jayeoba described the 2026 Akinrin Day as a celebration planned on a grander scale, designed to serve as a definitive homecoming for all sons and daughters of Ekinrin. “This is a clarion call,” he stated. “This year’s Akinrin Day is a must-attend for all Ekinrin aboriginals as we come together to showcase our rich cultural heritage while empowering the next generation through meaningful and thought-provoking intellectual engagement.”
The community therefore warmly invites all indigenes, friends, and well-wishers of Ekinrin land to mark their calendars and prepare for what promises to be a memorable and impactful celebration.
Hon. Monday Oshatoba, Publicity Secretary, ECNA
