The Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Taofiq Isa has warned criminals to expect tough fight as his administration has renewed effort to flush out criminals from the Area.
Speaking with Newsmen after a meeting between Traditional Rulers in Ijumu Kingdom and those in Akoko North East and West, Alhaji Taofiq, who is the Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), said he will do everything humanly possible to ensure that there’s no breathing space for criminals.
The Chairman, noted that border towns between Kogi are been used by men of the underworld to perpetuate their nefarious acts, thereby putting the State particularly, Ijumu Kingdom in bad light.
According to him, the next few weeks will be uncomfortable for Criminals as Ijumu is not their hiding place.
He explained that the meeting was thoughtful and a step in the right direction in protecting their respective domains.
The Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, HRM. Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni said the meeting was long overdue in view of the increased cases of kidnapping in Ijumu Oke.
According to Oba Ayeni, the meeting was to brainstorm on how to improve effective Community policing of the Border Towns between Kogi and Ondo States.
He commended the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government for his unwavering effort to the security of lives and property of Ijumu Kingdom, saying it is a demonstration of quality leadership.
The Olujumu expressed the readiness of the Ijumu Traditional Council in partnering with the Akoko North West and East Local Governments in a bid to safeguard their domains.
In his remarks, the Zaki of Arigidi Akoko, HRM. Oba Isah Olanipekun, described the collaboration as a welcome development and a step in the right direction.
Oba Olanipekun noted that the meeting shows clearly the commitment of Ijumu Traditional Council and the Local Government Chairman to issues of security.
On his part, the Akala of Ikaram, HRM. A.O Momodu stated that to flush Criminals in the border towns, there must be collaboration between the Governments of Edo, Kogi and Ondo States.
