The immediate past Executive Chairman of Kogi State Science, Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission (STETSCOM), Hon. Cecilia Cook has been appointed as the Chairman Board of Trustees of University of Ilorin Alumni Association.

This was announced during a virtual meeting of the Alumni Association on Tuesday 10th December 2024.

The appointment is a recognition of her sterling Leadership quality and contributions to her Alma mater.

In her acceptance speech, Hon. Cook expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in her, assuring that she will not disappoint the Association.

“With all humility and due respect,  I hereby accept the offer and pledge to do my very best in conjunction with other trustees to achieve great results.

She further states that “Currently, the University of Ilorin Alumni is saddled with crises. We will meet with the VC and make sure  that the issues are resolved amicably. Work will start, hopefully next year, January God willing.”

The BoT Chairman congratulated the President of the Association, Dr. Stephen Olawale Fasakin who was elected as the Deputy Chairman 1 of  the Association of Nigerian  Universities Alumni [ANUA] at the  concluded Unity conference of the Association of Nigeria Universities Alumni [ANUA] and  Conference of Alumni Association of Nigerian Universities (CAANU) in Abuja.

The Trustee membership, which was earlier registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria, CAC, consists of:
1. Hon, Mrs Cook C. Enezoza.
2. Chief J. Olugbenga Ale.
3. Alhaji Tunde I. Adesina,
4. Coach Lawrence S. Adegbehingbe,
5. Mr Abdulai R. Alade
6. Mr Blessing Wikina.
7. Barr. Sir Olusegun Adekunle OON,KSJ
8. Mrs Idowu L. Adenike and
9. Dr Stephen Olawale Fasakin (Secretary).

Delivering his goodwill message, the National President of the Association, Dr Stephen Olawale Fasakin, noted that, “We are making history by this event in the life of our Association being the first inauguration of the Board of Trustees, BoT, since the association was birthed in 1977.

“We, firstly, applied for the registration of the Association with the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, in 2019, during the immediate past administration of Dr Rhoda Oduwaiye led-ExCo.

“By way of success, the association’s certificate of registration was issued by CAC on the 15th of September, 2019, but we could not undertake the inauguration of the Board of Trustees, BOT, due to certain emergent constitutional matters which, at present, have been attended to. In addition, more members have to be added, particularly, on grounds of ‘qualification’ and ‘geographical spread across the country other than the North-Central zone and the South-West zone’ which dominated the previous ranking.

“I am happy to inform you that the constitutional requirements have been met dictating the event of today.

“Hopefully, this new development will bring a turning point for a higher drive in the life of our association bearing in mind the calibre, the status, the goodwill and the reach of the members of the Board of Trustees, which, as evident in their profiles, are qualified for presentation anywhere in the world.”
