Gov. Ododo Set to Revolutionize Farming with Establishment of Livestock Service Centre in Kogi

In a significant move to transform the agricultural sector in Kogi State, Dr. Olufemi Bolarin, the State Project Coordinator (SPC) of Kogi Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), held a strategic meeting with Mr. Sanusi Abubakar, the National Project Coordinator (NPC), on the establishment of a state-of-the-art Livestock Service Centre (LSC) in Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara, Adavi Local Government Area.

Dr. Bolarin during the ongoing National Executive Training on Innovative Project Management, Planning, and Control for Project Implementation Unit Members in Keffi, Nasarawa State said the envisioned (LSC) supported by the World Bank will be a cornerstone initiative aimed towards transforming livestock farming in the State.

Dr. Bolarin, while also commending the support given by the State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, assured the National Project Coordinator of the state’s readiness to participate in the programme.

He highlighted the Governor’s commitment to improving the agricultural sector and the collaborative efforts being made to ensure the success of the Livestock Service Centre.

Dr. Bolarin emphasised that with the Governor’s backing, the state is fully prepared to provide the necessary resources and support for the establishment and operation of the centre, with the aim to significantly enhance livestock productivity commercialisation and resilience in the State.

 

“The centre is expected to have an array of facilities, including a meat processing facility, milk collection centre, milk processing facility, stockyard, quarantine area, veterinary clinic, waste processing plant, water processing plant, feed mill factory, trailer park, poultry/monogastric area, business area for live birds, business area for cattle, goats, and rams, worship centre, recreation area, research/seminar and conference centre, school, power house, security post, fire service and administrative building, he added.
