Following the directive of the Kogi State Security Council chaired by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna, has ordered strict security measures across the LGA in the interest of public safety.

Alh. Haruna in a statement advised Residents to desist from crossover night celebrations, large gatherings, and similar activities that could be exploited by criminal elements, including bandits and kidnappers.

In the same vein, the use of knockouts, fireworks, and bangers is totally prohibited within the local government area.

This directive is not intended to inconvenience residents, but rather to ensure the safety of lives, properties, and the overall peace of our communities. The security and survival of our people remain paramount, and this administration will not compromise on them.

Consequently, all security agencies within Ijumu LGA have been directed to ensure strict monitoring and full enforcement of this order. Anyone found violating these directives will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The Chairman reassures the good people of Ijumu Local Government Area of the administration’s continued commitment to protecting lives, sustaining peace, and strengthening grassroots security as we move forward together.

We appreciate the cooperation and strict adherence of residents to these measures as we look ahead with hope and optimism into 2026.
