Funmilayo Victoria is a Skit Comedian, in this Interview with The Drum Reporters Entertainment Editor, Adebayo Emmanuel, she x-rays how she ventured into the fasting growing profession.

The Drum Reporters: May i meet you?

Funmilayo: I’m Funmilayo Victoria, a graduate of Public Administration from the prestigious Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja. I will be 27 by September 12th 2022. I hail from Iyara in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State. My primary education journey started from St. Paul’s Primary School Iyara. I had my Secondary School in Triumph Comprehensive Secondary School in Zaria, Kaduna state. I’m currently doing my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in FCT Abuja.

The Drum Reporters: What is skit all about?

Funmilayo: A skit is a short piece of
entertainment or I can simply say a skit is a short performance in which the actors make fun of people, events, and types of literature by imitating them.

The Drum Reporters: How did you venture into skit comedy?

Funmilayo: In 2020 during Covid-19, I made a video with my sister and we were speaking our local dialect (Okun) it wasn’t something serious but to my surprise after I posted it on my social media Handle, a lot of people find it so interesting and funny, that was how I started and up til date, I have getting calls from both within and outside Nigeria. So after I noticed how much my people love the first video I posted in 2020, I decided to continue because I have the love of my people at heart and I’m so proud of my heritage I strongly believe with the support of my dear people I will grow more in my comedy skits career.

The Drum Reporters: How has been the journey so far?

Funmilayo: Well the journey has its own ups and down. Some people think skits makers are wayward, some thinks they are seeking for attention while some people enjoy it and they understand that it just to laugh off the stress of the day a d tension in the country. In fact some skit are educating people more about their culture, ways of life and so on.

The Drum Reporters: Who is your role model in this profession?

Funmilayo: Well the only role model I have is Funke Felix-Adejumo but so sorry she is a pastor not a comedian but I like Juliana Olayode, she is an actress and a comedian.
