A leading Nigerian non-governmental organization, Julebrama Women and Children Initiative (JUWACI), has commenced its 2025 activities with a three-day retreat for its volunteer staff.
The three days retreat was held in Abuja with a theme “connect, learn, and grow,” aligning with the organization’s mission to empower the vulnerable populace, especially persons with disabilities and their communities.
The Organization’s senior volunteer and resource person, Mr John Ode stated that JUWACI is poised to reach more people in need in rural communities, building on its successes in 2024 and the preceding years.
JUWACI’s Founder/Executive Director, the just coronated Chieftain, Ojamalia Odaojiji of Imane, Chief Mrs. Jennifer Hembafan Alih, commended the efforts of the volunteer staff and charged them to innovate and surpass previous achievements. She stated that “the retreat was aimed to improve staff capacity with lasting impact and a multiplier effect in terms of improved teamwork, collaboration and enhanced performance in project management and evaluation“.
The retreat featured sessions on understanding disability, leadership development, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework, program management, 2025 work plan, team building activities and JUWACI’s policies.
With a focus on gender and disability inclusivity, accountability and transparency, JUWACI aims to strengthen its operations, community engagement, and financial management in 2025.
The organization’s commitment to empowering women, children, and persons with disabilities remains unwavering, with plans to roll out more interventions in climate action, education, health and livelihood programs in the coming year.
