BRAIMOH’S VISION FOR KOGI STATE

My vision for Kogi State is to prepare the young and old through intensive and focused capacity development initiatives that will enable them to engage in small-scale enterprises. This will help them become wealth creators,
financially independent, socially responsible, and willing to seek and participate in
community development.

BRAIMOH’S ECONOMIC AGENDA FOR KOGI STATE

As a firm believer in the critical role of the economy in a state’s development, my objective is to build a robust and thriving economy in Kogi State. This will create numerous opportunities for our people to be gainfully employed, wealth, and save money. Additionally, our state’s abundant resources, including water, land, and prime location, present immense potential to explore and leverage for our collective prosperity. It’s time we take advantage of our blessings and transform Kogi State into an economic power house! Braimoh’s plan for economic growth in Kogi state

EFFECTIVE LAND ADMINISTRATION

My focus is to implement effective land administration that will help convert our land assets into wealth. This will include land registration, titling, and creation of a land bank to support industrialization, housing, and other infrastructure development.

INVESTMENT IN MECHANIZED AGRICULTURE

We intend to activate the economy by investing in mechanized agriculture to make Kogi State the food basket feeding Nigeria and West Africa. This will attract natural capital inflow into the state and help create job opportunities.

EXPLORE OUR TOURISM POTENTIAL

We plan to explore the tourism potentials of the Confluence State with its historical sites and water bodies. This will create a modern economy and attract huge investments in the hospitality industry, resulting in more employment opportunities and increased internally generated revenue for infrastructure development.

EXPLORE OUR SOLID MINERAL SECTOR

Our objective is to grow the economy through strategic partnerships in the mining of the abundant solid minerals in the state. This will help create job opportunities, increase avenue, and enhance estate’s economic potential.

DEVELOP OUR HUMAN CAPITAL

We intend to focus on human capacity development by providing mass skill acquisition training for the youths. Our aim is to make Kogi State the supplier of certified skilled artisans to Nigeria and West Africa, creating more job opportunities and a competitive advantage for the state.

DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRIAL PARKS

We plan to create industrial parks to support the growth of productive, entrepreneurial activities. These parks will be supported by power supply and a conducive atmosphere that can give entrepreneurs the advantage for consistent growth.

ENHANCE OUR TRADE OPPORTUNITIES

The geographical location of our state positions it to be the centre of trading activities in Nigeria. Bordering 10 other states which altogether have an estimated combined population of about 56 million people, we will create productive activities which can supply the needs of this huge market, create and redistribute wealth as well as enlarge the source of the IGR in the state.

Kick start the implementation of policies that will promote and motivate Kogi State’s SMEs to expand their businesses to other African countries under the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA). This will lead to an increase in private sector job opportunities and a decrease in unemployment.

BRAIMOH’S PLAN FOR KOGI STATE HEALTH SECTOR

ADDRESS THE INFRASTRUCTURE DEFICIT IN THE HEALTHCARE SECTOR

We plan to construct new, well-equipped Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) and refurbish the existing ones in all 239 wards of the state.

PROMOTE ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE TECHNOLOGY

We plan to enhance access to healthcare services, cloud-based diagnostic centers will be established in each of the three senatorial districts in the state.

CUT DOWN THE COST OF HEALTHCARE THROUGH UHC

Universal healthcare coverage will be made available to everyone in the state through robust and well-managed community health insurance schemes, whereby people can pay a small premium to receive maximum care.

TARGETED INTERVENTIONS IN THE HEALTHCARE SECTOR

Special attention will be given to reducing the rates of neo-natal, post-natal, ante-natal, and maternal mortality by implementing effective family planning and healthcare interventions.

BRAIMOH’S PLAN FOR KOGI STATE EDUCATION SECTOR

Our education system is the foundation of ours society, and it’s vital that we invest in Kogi State’s education sector to ensure our children’s future. We must prioritize the following initiatives to strengthen our education system:

At the primary level, we must provide highly qualified personnel and adequate infrastructure to create a conducive learning environment for our young learners.

Our secondary and tertiary education facilities and curricula must be continuously reviewed and upgraded to prepare students for national and international competition.

It’s crucial to establish a legal framework that guarantees continuous investment in education to ensure that our schools have the resources they need to deliver quality education.

We must set ambitious targets to achieve Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 4 within our first three years in office. This will require concerted effort and significant resources, but we must prioritize these goals to provide our citizens with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life.Promote access to healthcare technology

MY PLAN FOR OUR YOUNG PEOPLE
Establish sector-specific vocational training programs and establish co-working spaces in communities and tertiary school campuses to support young people in embarking on an entrepreneurial journey towards financial independence.

Foster an inclusive environment that promotes vocational training alongside formal education.Introduce novel empowerment programs and initiatives aimed at equipping the younger generation in our communities with the skills and resources needed to attain self-reliance and create job opportunities for themselves and their peers.

Implement a system whereby a significant portion of government contracts are awarded to young people who have completed vocational training, in compliance with the Public Procurement Act.

MY PLAN FOR OUR WOMEN
Establish a frame work that facilitates the growth of women-owned businesses by providing access to capital, promoting government patronage, and leveraging innovative strategies to enhance their progress.

Integrate a gender perspective at all levels and stages of policy-making, legislation, and program implementation to ensure gender mainstreaming in government policies and initiatives.

Implement empowerment initiatives that are specifically tailored to women and young girls to promote the development of this vital demographic.

Implement fresh affirmative action measures to ensure greater representation of women in government, both through elections and appointments.

It is evident that Kogi State requires leaders who possess a comprehensive understanding of both global and national perspectives. Leaders who possess the ingenuity and determination to devise innovative solutions to the everyday challenges faced by our people.

My unwavering goal is to enhance the quality of life for every citizen within our State. I am committed to ensuring that our youth have access to employment opportunities, our healthcare facilities cater to the needs of our children and elderly, and our communities are safe and tranquil.

These are just a few of the preliminary ideas I have for Kogi State, but I firmly believe that together, we can create a Kogi State that surpasses our wildest dreams.

Sincerely,

Olayinka Braimoh
