In line with his commitment to grassroots development, the lawmaker representing Mopamuro Constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Sam Olawumi Jacob, has rolled out a mega constituency empowerment initiative aimed at improving livelihoods and boosting small-scale economic activities across the constituency.

 

The empowerment programme, which cuts across all 10 wards in Mopamuro, is designed to support traders, artisans, and vulnerable groups, while strengthening community-based economic growth.

As part of the initiative, 20 Point-of-Sale (POS) machines, each provided with a cash backup of ₦50,000, were distributed, with two beneficiaries per ward, to enhance financial inclusion and support small business owners.

 

In addition, 10 generators, one allocated to each ward, were distributed to assist beneficiaries whose trades depend heavily on electricity supply.

 

Demonstrating his commitment to inclusivity, Hon. Olawumi ensured that *people living with disabilities (PLWDs)* were not left out of the programme.

Five wheelchairs were provided to support their mobility and reaffirm their place as valued members of the Mopamuro community.

 

To further empower artisans and entrepreneurs, the lawmaker also distributed:10 grinding machines (one per ward), 10 deep freezers (one per ward), and10 sewing machines (one per ward).

 

Speaking on the initiative, the Hon. Member reiterated that the empowerment programme reflects his resolve to uplift constituents, reduce economic hardship, and promote self-reliance at the grassroots level.

 

He emphasized that sustainable development begins with empowering the people and ensuring that no segment of society is neglected.

 

Speaking on behalf of the Mopamuro Traditional Council, H.E. Rt. Hon. Oba Clarence Olafemi, Olokedagun of Okedagun, described the Assembly member as a product of his political school and expressed pride in his people-oriented leadership.

 

Also speaking, Dr. Ayodele John Delex commended the Assembly member for championing a people-centered initiative and supported the POS beneficiaries with an additional ₦10,000 each. In the same vein, Hon. Chief Bola Ampitan supported the beneficiaries with ₦5,000 each, bringing the total cash support to ₦65,000 per POS beneficiary, with two beneficiaries across each of the 10 wards in Mopamuro.

 

Beneficiaries across the wards expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, while pledging to put the empowerment items to productive use for the benefit of their families and communities.

Recall that earlier this year, Hon. Sam Olawumi Jacob renovated the Amuro Area Court and the Doctors’ Residence at the General Hospital, Mopa. He also facilitated the renovation of two blocks of classrooms in Ayede and the construction of a block of classrooms in Orokere, among several other personal and constituency-focused interventions.

 

This empowerment initiative forms part of his broader vision to deliver people-oriented representation and promote inclusive and sustainable development across Mopamuro Constituency.

Tope Stephen Ajayi (Santos); Hon. K.K. Dennis; Hon. Mrs. Bamitale Grace Bello; Hon. Mrs. Grace Oluwakemi Olawumi; Hon. Charles F. Solomon; Hon. Chief Bola Ampitan; Dr. John Ayodele Delex; Hon. Jones Olorunjuwon Daniel; Hon. Olasunmole Fatobi, Council Leader, and all members of the Mopamuro Legislative Council; Hon.

Ayodele Ige Solomon (Palo); other political appointees including SAs, SSAs, LSAs, WSAs, party stalwarts, ward chairmen, youth leaders, party members, and the general public.

 

Royal Fathers present included HRM Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, the Elulu of Mopa and Chairman, Mopamuro Traditional Council of Chiefs; H.E. Rt. Hon. Oba Clarence Olafemi, Olokedagun of Okedagun and Balogun of Mopa Land; and HRH Oba Shola Agbaje Williams, the Olokeguru of Okeguru.
