Hon. Musa Olumayowa Yakubu, known as MOY, has been affirmed as the candidate representing the mass-oriented party, Action Alliance (AA), for the upcoming local government elections in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

This announcement was made during the party’s Special Convention held in Iyara, the local government area’s headquarters.

The Chairman of the Action Alliance in Ijumu LGA, who presided over the event, referenced Section 87 of the Electoral Act, which delineates the nomination process for candidates by political parties. This section stipulates that if there is only one aspirant for a position, such as the local government chairman, the party must convene a special convention or congress to confirm the aspirant, whose name will then be submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the official candidate.

“I, Hon Obafemi Tajudeen Solomon, the Chairman of the Action Alliance Party in Ijumu LGA, on behalf of the Kogi State Executive Council of the party, hereby confirm you as the Chairmanship candidate to represent Action Alliance in the elections scheduled for October 19, 2024. Congratulations,” he stated in the presence of party members from across Ijumu LGA.

In his response, Hon. Musa expressed gratitude to the party members for their support and committed to working diligently to secure victory for the party in the upcoming election.

“Action Alliance, with the motto “Let the Masses Live,” is genuinely focused on the needs of the populace and has consistently been a party for the people. If elected, I am dedicated to serving the residents of Ijumu Local Government Area. Furthermore, I would like to emphasize that the success of Action Alliance relies on collective effort; it transcends mere party affiliation, familial ties, and religious connections. It is a mass movement that requires collaboration to ensure the party’s success in the elections. Teamwork is essential for overcoming the current challenges faced by Ijumu LGA.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed residents of Ijumu LGA who regard me as the most viable candidate for the advancement of our local government area. If elected, my primary focus will be on empowering the youth, fostering wealth creation, and enhancing security, as I believe these areas will significantly improve the lives of our community members.

“Furthermore, I urge the electoral commission to guarantee that the upcoming election is conducted in a manner that is free, fair, and credible, as the citizens of Ijumu Local Government Area rightfully deserve such standards”.

The local government elections in Kogi State are set to take place on October 19, 2024, and Hon Musa Olumayowa Yakubu aspires to achieve victory in Ijumu Local Government Area.
