Nigeria’s First Lady Empowers 250 Elderly Citizens in Kogi State

About 250 elderly citizens in Kogi State have benefitted from the second batch of the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

 

The beneficiaries aged 65 years and above cut across the 21 Local Government Areas in the State.

At the presentation of the cash gifts to the beneficiaries at the Government House, Lokoja, Senator Oluremi Tinubu represented by Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo said about 2 Billion Naira will be disbursed across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

 

The RHI Coordinators in the 36 states of the federation, the FCT and Defence and Police Officers Wives’ Association (DEPOWA) have received fifty million naira each, out of which ₦200,000 will be given today to each beneficiary. 

 

In addition to this, free medical checkups and other sundry items will be provided.” The First Lady stated.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu noted that the ₦200,000 will be given to each beneficiary to support them to fend for themselves as grapple with retirement and old age.

 

“This programme is designed to support the welfare of our elderly citizens annually. Two hundred and fifty(250) elderly citizens, aged 65 and above in all the 36 states of the federation, the FCT and veterans from the DEPOWA will be benefitting from this scheme.”

 

The First Lady explained that free medical check-ups and other sundry items will also be provided for the beneficiaries across the states.

 

While congratulating the beneficiaries for being selected to benefit from the scheme, the First Lady urged the senior citizens to prioritize their healthcare by engaging in regular checks.
