A Governorship Aspirant ahead of the Kogi Gubernatorial polls, Alhaji Usman Ododo had condemned in strong term, the attack on Oganenigu Community in Dekina Local Government that left many dead and several injured.
Alh. Ododo, who is the former Auditor General for Local Government, while reacting to the attack, described it as, barbaric, inhuman, and unfortunate handiwork of evil men who do not value the sacredness of human life.
Ododo recalled that since 2018 when Yahaya Bello personally led security men to the troubled village, peace was restored except for recent development which he ensured that security men still stay to protect the people.
According to the frontline governorship aspirant, it is sinful, shameful and punishable for any human being to take the life of another, as such act is against the law of creation and punishable by the creator.
It was the view of Ododo that contentious issues are discussed and settled amicable rather than spilling of innocent lives over issues that are resolvable.
Ododo said he is mostly pained that women and children would be the most affected as they are weak and most vulnerable especially in time of crisis such as this.
In his words “I express my heartfelt condolences to the people of Oganenigu Community, Dekina Local Government and the State over this unfortunate carnage and wicked act. I sympathize with families of those that lost their loved ones and property. May Almighty Allah grant the deceased eternal rest and the family, fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
He commended Kogi state Governor Yahaya Bello for adequately deploying security men made up of the Police, Army and Civil Defense to bring peace to the area.
Ododo also expressed very high hope that Yahaya Bello’s instruction that the perpetrators sould be brought to book will bring relief to the people to see their offender being punished.
In line with the Governor’s directives, Ododo charged security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book as soon as possible to restore confidence in the security investment of the governor in the state.
Alh. Ododo urged the people of the State to be security conscious and report suspicious persons or groups to law enforcement Agencies, with an appeal to them not to take law into their hands by way of reprisal attacks to prevent the matter from escalating.
