Governor Yahaya Bello has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State to put aside their differences and work for the success of the Party.
Governor Bello made the call during a meeting with candidates for Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly positions, aspirants and state officials of the Party at the Government House, Lokoja.
He stated that there was a need for all members to put away offences and support candidates for all the elective positions.
I’m not here to coerce you, pressurize you or force you to do certain things against your own will. But we’re here so that we may carry ourselves along and if there’s any anomaly I see, I’ll point it out
“In twenty eighteen/twenty nineteen general elections where we produced the three Senatorial candidates and all of the candidates across the state, we stepped on toes to be able to produce everyone” he noted.
The Governor enjoined those currently having court cases to withdraw them for amicable resolution and to chart a way forward for the Party.
Governor Bello maintained that the meeting was called to ensure that the Party puts its house in order before the general elections.
He charged aspirants not to feel disappointed about the outcome of the primaries but support the candidates so they can be good representatives of the Party.
If you decided not to work with them, then you’ll have your own name written either in gold or otherwise, your name be written in black or white
The Governor declared that the money spent by the aspirants while pursuing their ambition will be refunded to show the world that the APC in Kogi State are caring and one big family.
He urged the leadership of APC in the state to consider aspirants for appointments after the election to let them know that their efforts were not in vain.
Earlier, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, said the meeting was called at the instance of the Governor to reconcile aggrieved members and to rub minds together for the progress of the party.
He noted that the leadership style of the Governor is evident in the growth of APC and the achievements recorded by the present administration.
