The Executive Chairman of Kogi State Science Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission (STETSCOM), Mrs. Cecilia Cook has reacted to report that the State recorded 82.34% best result in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Mrs. Cook told The Drum Reporters in Lokoja that the good news is an indication that the investment of Governor Yahaya Bello in the Education sector is yielding positive result.
According to the Executive Chairman, the results of the 2021 WASSCE is the best in the history of Kogi as States such as Lagos, Kano, Ondo and Ekiti among others are far behind the State.
She explained that the feat was achieved due to the necessary machineries put in place by the Commission to ensure effective monitoring of schools across the State despite little resources.
“We have never had it good in the history of WASSCE Examination in the state as the report of 2021 Examination indicates that there’s no poor results including examination malpractice in all the Secondary Schools both public and private in the State.”
“The cheering news to the Commission is heartwarming and a welcome development. I’m delighted that it is happening under the Education friendly Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State.”
Speaking further on how the feat was achieved, Mrs. Cook maintained that the Commission’s Monitoring Unit was charged to embark on efficient and effective monitoring of schools in line with the New Direction Education blueprints.
The STETSCOM Boss also said Principals were redeployed to schools that suit their academic discipline to enable them perform better.
She added that the State will record more progress with the ongoing recruitment of Secondary School Teacher, which according to her will add value to secondary education in the State.
Mrs. Cook commended teachers for their selfless contributions to the development of the sector, urging them to sustain the spirit.
