The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has said that the ongoing health sector reform will be sustained if Nigerians vote wisely come February this year.
Dr Ehanire made this known at the Healthcare Transformation coalition (HTC) Symposium on Friday in Abuja with the theme: Repositioning The Healthcare Sector: Creating the Pathway to an Effective Health System.
Ehanire said that the laudable initiative addressed a work in progress, underpinned by the ongoing Health Sector Reform of the current administration, with a mission to build a resilient and sustainable health system
He said that the objective of the reform was to provide Universal Health Coverage that would provide geographic and financial access to healthcare for 95 per cent or more residents of Nigeria and offer a basic minimum package of health services to citizens, even in remote and rural areas, without suffering financial hardship.
The Minister explained that the great benefits of voting APC were a firm assurance of continuity of programmes, with no hiccups, so that the country would not be taken backwards to begin all over again.
According to him, “It is our responsibility as members and leaders of thought of the party, to design and present to the public, the agenda we have crafted for them, which they can trust our candidates to faithfully execute and build upon”.
Dr Ohanire who noted that the candidates of APC were high profile politicians with cognate experience in governance and leadership urged Nigerians to support Tinubu/Shettima to emerged oome February.
Our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has fairly and squarely chosen standard bearers for the upcoming election, in primaries that brought Bola Ahmed Tinubu and running mate Shetima to the fore.
“With the great respect we have for our party and the people’s choices and wishes, we must throw our weight behind our candidates, who emerged from a transparent and democratic primary process.
In a remark, the APC Presidential candidate, who was represented by the Deputy chief Whip of the Senate, Dr Aliyu Sabi noted that the antecedents of the Presidential candidate and his Vice in their various states has shown their political will, passion and commitment to the health sector and the welfare of their citizens.
He noted that without any doubt, they will perform better when they take over power, adding that, with the expectation in the improvement in the healthcare, Nigerians abroad will return home to a better and improved nation
Speaking with journalist, the Senator noted that with Tinubu’s innovative idea, the health sector will be turned around to proper utilization and integration of resources to focus on the common vision yielding to an improve health sector as well
While speaking on the insecurity bedeviling the country, Sabi noted that the experience of Tinubu handling the issues of crimiinality in Lagos and Shettima did in Borno state to cub the Boko Haram excesses, is a clear indication that they will do more to tackle the challenges of insecurity when they eventually came on board.
The senator also urged all Nigerians for their full support by voting Tunubu and Shettima during the general election
Earlier, the Convener of the event, who was the former Lagos State Heath Commissioner, Dr Jide Idris,, said that HTC canvassed for the APC flag bearer Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to harmonise sustainable change in the various aspects of the Nigerian healthcare system in the country.
Idris said that it was important that the reins of leadership fell into the most competent hands evidenced by proven track records.
