3 Die as Flood Displace 50, 000 People in Ibaji

Over 50,000 people have been displaced by Flood in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State and Farmlands in Kogi State, the lawmaker representing the Constituency, Hon. Atule Egbunu has said.

 

 

He said about 3 persons were also killed in the disaster as the entire Local Government has been submerged by water.

 

According to Hon. Egbunu, thousands of Houses and farmlands have been submerged by the disaster which he described as an “unfortunate annual disaster.”

 

He also described the disaster as devastating, saying relocating the victims to a safer place like Idah is currently difficult and beyond the capability of the victims.

 

The Lawmaker noted that the people are currently not having what it takes to address the damages caused by the diaster, appealing to the State and Federal Governments as well as International Community to come to their aid.

 

He called on the State Government to urgently come to the aid of the people of Ibaji especially those affected by the Flood.

Ibaji local Govt, in kogi State has been suffering from flood disaster annually, the people are now left with nothing, it has destroyed their plants, buildings and some even lost their life’s in the process.
We seek for the federal government attention on these particular disaster called flood, in other to support the victims in areas like shelter, feeding, accommodation, and means of relocation such the availability of speed boots .
