The visit was an opportunity for strategic engagement between the Kogi State Government and the Commission, focusing on areas of collaboration to accelerate clean energy solutions, particularly off-grid electricity development that benefits underserved communities.

Governor Ododo commended the Director-General who is an indigene of Kogi State, for his role in advancing Nigeria’s energy transition, describing him as a worthy ambassador of the state and Nigeria.

He expressed readiness to align Kogi with the national clean energy strategy, noting that the state government is prioritizing energy infrastructure in its development agenda.

The Governor also praised President Tinubu for championing initiatives that not only support energy inclusion but also empower young Nigerians and promote sustainable development in different sectors of the economy.

On his part, Dr. Abdullahi intimated Governor Ododo on the mandate of ECN, the National Energy Master Plan, and the Commission’s implementation of the Renewed Hope Solarization Project, a federal initiative that will deliver solar-powered infrastructure, including streetlights to institutions across the 36 states of Nigeria.

He emphasized that the Commission is working towards achieving 30% off-grid electricity coverage nationwide, adding that goal aligns with Kogi’s aspirations for inclusive energy access in both urban and rural communities.
