The Aiyegunle Gbede Community in Ijumu Local Government Area has rejoiced with the new Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan on his appointment, describing it as a monumental honour to Ijumu Kingdom.

 

Comrade Ahmed-Ade Fatai, National President of Aiyegunle Gbede Descendant Union, in a statement on behalf of the Traditional Council and people of the Community, described the appointment as well deserved.

 

On behalf of the Aiyegunle Gbede Traditional Council under the esteemed leadership of His Royal Highness, Oba Hon. Haruna Lateef, the Olu of Aiyegunle Gbede, the Executive Council of the Aiyegunle Gbede Descendants’ Union (AGDU), and indeed the entire good people of our Ọhọnọ community, with great joy and pride celebrate with our brother, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, on his well-deserved appointment as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

 

This appointment is not only a personal achievement but also a monumental honour to the entire Ijumu Kingdom, and Kogi State at large. It is a clear recognition of your exceptional brilliance, integrity, and decades of meritorious service to the legal profession, the academic world, and our great nation.

We are confident that you will bring to bear your wealth of experience, patriotism, and fairness in strengthening our democratic process and upholding the sanctity of free and credible elections in Nigeria.
