The attention of Ayegunle Gbede Youth has been drawn to a public claim credited to a group styling itself as Ayegunle Gbede Progressive Youths. We state clearly and without ambiguity that the individuals who paid a visit to Hon. Yomi Kolawole under that name does not speak for Ayegunle Gbede. Their gathering was neither sanctioned nor recognized by the broader youth body of our community.
Youth Leader of the Community, Comr. Owonare Lukman in a statement
For the avoidance of doubt, the so called platform under which those youths acted lacks constitutional standing within Ayegunle Gbede. Their involvement with Rt. Hon. Yomi Kolawole is a private choice that extends only to those who appeared in the photograph circulated. It does not reflect the position, consent, or outlook of Ayegunle Gbede Youth as a people.
Ayegunle Gbede Youth remain firm in support of the aspirations of Hon. (Arc) Salman Idris toward the 2027 House of Representatives election for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency. This position is based on shared values, clear representation, and respect for the collective will of our community. We will stand together to resist external efforts aimed at dragging the name of Ayegunle Gbede into needless disputes or misrepresentation.
While we respect the freedom of association guaranteed to every citizen, we advise the few youths who have chosen to align with Hon. Yomi Kolawole to do so without attaching the name Ayegunle Gbede to their actions. Our community identity is not a tool for personal politics, and we will continue to defend what we stand for with clarity and discipline.
