The Maiyegun of Isanlu, High Chief David Dare Olatunde, the Maiyegun of Isanlu Kingdom and Akogun of Takete-Ide, has not withdrawn from the Mopamuro Lokan campaign, his spokesperson has said.
In a statement issued by his Personal Assistant and Spokesperson, La’Niyi Africa, the camp dismissed claims that Olatunde had backed out of the movement, which seeks a fair political opportunity for Mopamuro in Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi State.
The statement also denied reports of a reconciliatory meeting between Olatunde and the incumbent member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

“There has been no such reconciliatory meeting,” the camp said, noting that those trying to create a narrative that the struggle had been abandoned should not “mistake speculation for reality.”
The statement said Olatunde’s position remained aligned with the principle that Mopamuro deserved a fair opportunity in the political equation of the constituency.
It described Mopamuro Lokan as “not a slogan” but a position and a call for fairness, equity, justice and inclusion, adding that the movement was neither a declaration of war nor an attempt to destroy anyone’s political career.
“Political leadership must not become the permanent possession of one person, one family, one community or one political structure,” the statement said, adding that democracy thrives when every part of a constituency believes its aspirations can be heard.
It posed the question: “If it is not Mopamuro’s turn, whose turn is it and when will Mopamuro’s turn ever come?”.
The camp said Olatunde stood for a Yagba where political power was not permanently entrenched, where communities respected understandings that promoted equity, and where the people, not fear, money, influence or political machinery, determined who represented them.
“Mopamuro Lokan remains alive, and the principle remains bigger than any individual,” the statement concluded.
