The Member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, has called on the people of his immediate constituents, Kogi State and Nigerians at large to embrace the deeper spiritual purposes of Ramadan and Lent as instruments for personal discipline, moral renewal, and national transformation.

In a statement issued to mark the commencement of the holy seasons, Abejide described Ramadan and Lent as sacred periods that transcend routine religious observance, emphasizing that they are divine opportunities for self-examination, sacrifice, and rededication to the values that build strong societies.

According to him, fasting is not merely abstinence from food and drink, but a spiritual exercise designed to cultivate self-control, accountability, and compassion. He noted that these virtues are urgently needed in Nigeria’s public and private life, especially at a time when citizens are yearning for economic stability, responsible leadership, and sustainable development.

“Ramadan and Lent remind us that true growth, whether personal or national, demands sacrifice, discipline, and sincere reflection,” Abejide stated. “If we apply the lessons of restraint, honesty, generosity, and devotion to our daily dealings, we will strengthen not only our faith but also the moral foundation of our state and our country.”

The lawmaker urged residents of Kogi State to use the sacred seasons to pray intentionally for economic progress, youth empowerment, agricultural productivity, and improved social welfare across communities. He stressed that spiritual renewal must translate into practical commitment to hard work, integrity, and community service.

Abejide further encouraged citizens to extend charity to the vulnerable, support local businesses, and promote initiatives that advance collective prosperity. He maintained that the spirit of giving and sacrifice embodied in Ramadan and Lent aligns with the shared aspiration for a more prosperous and self-reliant Kogi State.

He urged the masses to keep supporting and praying for the administration of Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other government officials, as commanded by the holy books, that it is only by the prayers and hope that Nigeria will get better.

He concluded by praying that Almighty Allah and God accept the fasting, prayers, and acts of devotion of all faithful, and grant Kogi State and Nigeria wisdom, resilience, and the grace to achieve lasting progress through righteousness and disciplined living.
