The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, has carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the male and female halls of residence at the Felele Campus, reaffirming his administration’s firm commitment to student welfare and institutional excellence.

According to a statement by Dr. Tosin Olagunju, Ọlágúnjú, Director, Directorate of Strategic Communication and Corporate Documentation in a statement , the inspection forms part of the Vice-Chancellor’s deliberate and structured approach to gaining first-hand insight into the operational realities of the University’s residential facilities.

Rather than relying solely on reports, Prof. Ibileye undertook a comprehensive walkthrough of the hostels, examining critical infrastructure and essential services, including sanitation facilities, kitchens, and water supply systems.

The visit enabled him to evaluate functionality, maintenance standards, and overall living conditions.

At the conclusion of the inspection, the Vice-Chancellor made detailed observations and issued time-bound directives to the appropriate officers, mandating that identified concerns be addressed on or before the end of the week.

His instructions underscored accountability, urgency, and measurable follow-through.

In addition to assessing physical infrastructure, Professor Ibileye engaged students in open and candid conversations within their residential environment.

Interacting with the Student Union President, Comrade Joseph Adopisa Adomu, and other student representatives, he sought honest feedback on their welfare and day-to-day experiences in the hostels.

Students, in their responses, expressed satisfaction with the recently installed internet services across the halls of residence, an initiative the Vice-Chancellor had announced on his first day in office.

They confirmed that the service is now fully operational, marking a significant improvement in the academic and social experience within the hostels.

Accompanied by the Dean of Students, Professor Isah Yinusa and members of his media team, Professor Ibileye reiterated that his administration is committed to raising the standard of campus living in a systematic and sustainable manner.

He assured the students that continuous evaluation, responsible management, and targeted interventions would define the University’s approach to service delivery.

The visit further reflects a leadership style that is proactive, accessible, and grounded in direct engagement, one that prioritises responsiveness, institutional accountability, and the steady enhancement of the student experience.
