In a decisive move to bolster public safety and combat rising security challenges, the General Manager of the Kogi State Hotels and Tourism Board, Philip Orebiyi has issued a mandatory security enforcement directive to all hotels, guest houses, and tourism establishments across the state.
This followed a strategic review of the current security landscape, the Board is implementing a Zero-Tolerance Policy regarding guest documentation and vigilance.

According to the General Manager, the directive serves as a final warning to operators that the safety of Kogi State residents and visitors is non-negotiable.
Core Enforcement Pillars:
1. Mandatory Vigilance: All hotel management teams must implement rigorous screening processes. Any suspicious individuals or activities must be reported immediately to the Board and relevant law enforcement agencies.
Ban on Unaccompanied Minors: There is a strict prohibition on the lodging of underage individuals. No minor is to be checked into any facility without a verifiable parent or legal guardian present.
2. Identity Verification: Hotels are required to maintain digital or manual registries containing valid, government-issued identification for every lodger. These records must be made available for inspection at a moment’s notice.
Consequences of Non-Compliance
The General Manager emphasized that the Board’s enforcement task force, in collaboration with state security outfits, will be conducting unannounced “sting” inspections across all local government areas.
“The hospitality industry must not become a haven for criminality,” stated the General Manager. “Any establishment found wanting or in violation of these security regulations will face immediate closure and the permanent revocation of their operational license. We will not hesitate to shut down any business that prioritizes profit over the lives of our people.”
