The Vice-Chancellor of Kogi State University, Kabba, Professor K. I. T. Eniola, fNSM, has been honoured with the prestigious title of Ambassador of Ethics and Conscience (AEC) alongside an Award of Merit, in recognition of his transparent and ethically driven leadership.
The awards were conferred by the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation, an international anti-corruption organisation headquartered in Lokoja the Kogi State capital, following what it described as a rigorous 14-month nationwide assessment.
The Centre disclosed that its evaluation also included a 10-year retrospective review of Professor Eniola’s professional conduct, in line with its protocol for identifying consistently ethical public leaders.
According to the Executive Director of the Centre, Prince Saliu Musa Yakubu, the selection process involved undercover investigations, stakeholder surveys, interviews, and project site inspections across multiple institutions. He noted that the findings on Kogi State University, Kabba consistently pointed to transparency, accountability, and adherence to due process under Professor Eniola’s administration.
“His leadership reflects openness and a strong commitment to good governance,” Yakubu said during the presentation.
In a show of collective institutional performance, key members of the University’s management team—including the Registrar, Bursar, Librarian, and Deans—were also commended for supporting an ethical and efficient administrative system.

The University itself received an Ethics and Integrity Compliance Certificate, underscoring its emergence as one of the most ethically compliant state universities in Nigeria.
200 Training Slots for Staff and Students
Beyond the awards, the Centre announced a capacity-building initiative, offering 100 training slots each for staff and students. The programme, according to him, is designed to promote ethical values, leadership responsibility, and personal development, particularly among student leaders and academic personnel.
In his response, Professor Eniola expressed gratitude to the Centre for the recognition, describing it as a reflection of the University’s collective commitment to excellence and integrity. He noted that whatever the university amounted to today the credits must go to the the former Governor of the state His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello who translated vision to reality, and the incumbent governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo FCA for consolidating on the success.

He further highlighted the institution’s progress since its establishment, noting that deliberate reforms in governance and administration have helped position KSU Kabba as a growing model of accountability in Nigeria’s higher education sector.
Speaking at the sideline of the investiture, the spokesperson of the university, Mr. Tade Oshaloto, noted that the investiture aligned not only with the contributions of the Vice-Chancellor but also recognized the notable pedestal that the professor Eniola has placed the university within the broader national conversation around ethical leadership and institutional governance.
“This recognition also signaled a shift toward increased scrutiny and performance-based evaluation of public institutions in Nigeria.” he added.
He further stated that “with the conferment of the Ambassador of Ethics and Conscience title—a lifetime honour—our principal joins a select group of leaders identified for sustained integrity and public accountability, a rare value that everyone has to imbibe”.
