A former aspirant to the Kogi State House of Assembly, Engr. Ogbeni David Oni Sunday, has announced his withdrawal from active politics with immediate effect, citing the need for personal reflection and reassessment.
Sunday, a Community Development Advocate and loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Yagba East, disclosed this in a personal statement addressed to his supporters and the people of Yagba East, Yagba Federal Constituency, Kogi West Senatorial District and Kogi State at large.
He explained that his decision followed weeks of “deep meditation, reflection and honest conversations” with himself, adding that current political realities no longer offered the assurance needed to sustain his active participation in partisan politics.
The APC stalwart, who twice stepped down from contesting for the Kogi State House of Assembly seat at the request of party leaders in the interest of unity, insisted his withdrawal was not driven by anger, disappointment or disloyalty to the party.
“This decision is not borne out of anger, disappointment or disloyalty to anyone or to our great party. Rather, it is a deliberate step to allow me to reassess my life’s journey, refocus my energies and explore other avenues through which I can continue to contribute meaningfully to the development of our dear state,” he said.
Sunday commended the APC leadership across the local government, federal constituency and senatorial district levels for the opportunities and experiences gathered over the years, while expressing gratitude to his associates and supporters for their continued belief in his vision.
He noted that his political future would be communicated “at the appropriate time,” as he sought the understanding and prayers of his supporters during this period.
