The Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engineer Abubakar Bashiru Gegu has called on all government appointees from Kogi Local Government Area to intensify grassroots mobilization ahead of the forthcoming elections, describing the exercise as a critical moment for the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Kogi State.

Addressing the appointees at a high-level meeting in Gegu, Kogi Local Government Area, the Commissioner said the meeting became imperative given the scale of political activity ahead of the polls.

He noted that the council boasts of a large number of political office holders within the state government, stressing that it was time for beneficiaries of the Ododo-led administration to reciprocate that gesture with tangible political work.

“As critical stakeholders in this process, it is important that all party men work and mobilize massively for all candidates of the APC to emerge victorious from top to bottom,” the Commissioner said, urging appointees to see themselves as foot soldiers who must return to their units, deliver the dividends of good governance, and win more votes from their wards.

The Commissioner highlighted several ongoing infrastructure projects in the state as evidence that the Tinubu led administration was delivering on its promises, citing the Lokoja–Abuja road as an example of a project receiving renewed and speedy attention despite been abandoned by previous governments.

He cautioned party members against anti party activities reminding them of the need to work diligently in consolidating APC’s grip on the state.

The Commissioner told the appointees that “politics is local,” insisting that every APC stalwart must work in synergy with grassroots structures to sustain the party’s success.

He further stressed the need for total loyalty and commitment to the party, warning against sectional or fragmented followership, which he said threatens the peace and unity required for sustained political success.

On his part, the Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Muhammed Tanko Umar pledged total loyalty of the appointees to the APC cause, commending the Commissioner for Solid Minerals for setting what he called a workable template ahead of the party’s electoral victory.

The L.G.A. APC Chairman, Abubakar Onah reiterated the need to ensure internal discipline within the fold while other speakers at the event urged party stalwarts to reach out to constituents, remain committed, and actively mobilize massively at the ward and unit levels.
