More than three hundred Igala professionals from Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency, based in Lagos, have pledged their commitment to the election of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the constituency, Prince Gowon Enenche, popularly known as G-ONE, in the 2027 general election.
The professionals made the pledge on Saturday in Lagos during an interactive session they organised with Prince Enenche to discuss his vision, leadership agenda and plans for effective representation of the constituency at the National Assembly.
Speaking at the event, participants drawn from the three local government areas and representing various professional fields expressed disappointment over what they described as years of neglect and inadequate federal presence in the constituency.
They lamented the absence of basic amenities and essential services, particularly the lack of pipe-borne water, total blackout or lack of electricity supply, inadequate banking and financial institutions, poor infrastructure and the absence of meaningful federal government presence in several critical sectors.
The participants argued that the constituency deserved more purposeful representation capable of attracting federal projects, creating opportunities for its people and addressing the developmental challenges confronting the area.
In a communique issued at the end of the session Ele at the Akuwonjo area of Lagos state, the youths adopted Prince Gowon Enenche, citing his record of personal investment in community development, particularly in healthcare, education, security and the empowerment of women and youths across the constituency.
The SDP candidate, Prince Gowon Enenche who was represented at the interpretative session by Mr Charles Ekwuojo Ikeh, called on voters to judge G-ONE by his record of service, commitment to community development and capacity to deliver, rather than merely focusing on the fact that he had never held an elective political office.
Ekwu-Ojo explained that Enenche, as a private citizen and businessman, has committed substantial personal resources to projects worth billions of naira in healthcare, education, security and other social sectors, with interventions benefiting communities across his areas of operation.
Ikeh said Enenche’s ambition was driven by the desire to provide quality representation, attract federal projects and give Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro a stronger voice at the National Assembly.
He identified education, healthcare, electricity and infrastructure as priority areas requiring urgent intervention, adding that the people deserved representation that would translate into measurable development.
He also conveyed Enenche’s commitment to establishing functional constituency offices in Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro, with liaison officers to maintain regular communication with constituents, receive complaints and ensure that the concerns of the people were adequately represented.
The SDP candidate also urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), mobilise support at the grassroots and work collectively towards the emergence of credible leadership in 2027.
Earlier, the organiser of the session, Mohammed Zakari, said the Lagos-based professionals are prepared to deploy their personal resources, professional expertise and networks towards securing victory for G-ONE in the forthcoming election.
Zakari disclosed that the group is making arrangements to establish an election situation room to coordinate support for the candidate, monitor electoral activities and strengthen grassroots mobilisation.
According to him, members of the group would also be deployed to polling units across the constituency to provide real-time election updates, transmit information from the field and document electoral developments to help prevent rigging and other forms of electoral malpractice.
He said the initiative was aimed at promoting transparency, protecting the votes of the electorate and ensuring that the will of the people prevailed at the polls.
The meeting featured an interactive question-and-answer session during which participants engaged the candidate’s representatives on issues affecting the constituency and offered suggestions on mobilisation strategies, effective representation and election-day coordination.
The participants subsequently reaffirmed their commitment to mobilising support among Igala professionals, families, associates and other stakeholders in Lagos and across the three local government areas to ensure the election of Prince Gowon Enenche in 2027.
They described his candidacy as an opportunity to reposition the constituency for purposeful leadership, improved federal presence and sustainable development.
