Kogi State Government has approved the construction of 4 new GYB Model Science Secondary Schools in 4 Local Government Areas of the State.
The Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones announced this at the demolition of one of the proposed sites at Okebukun, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.
Hon. Jones noted that the approval is in line with the commitment of the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in revamping secondary education.
In his words”It is in the quest of the Governor to revamp Science, Technical Education, Engineering and Mathematics with particular emphasis on Vocational Education approved additional 4 GYB Model Science Secondary School in the State.”
He stated that the project will be completed in the shortest possible time as the students and staff have been relocated temporarily.
Like you can see, the entire structure of the school has been pulled down and the students have been temporarily relocated facility and the will spend this term their pending the completion.
The Commissioner added that the contractor got the job on the strength of his previous performances and antecedents, saying he is expected to work in line with high quality and timely delivery.
For the host Community, this is a big project not only for the Community but the entire Kogi West and every Nigerian will benefit from it. The community should cooperate with the contractor by providing local security.
The Contractor handling the project, Alh. Friday Idachaba said the project is an edifice like the GYB Model Science Secondary School Adankolo.
Alh. Friday stated that GYB standard will be replicated in the project towards justifying the confidence reposed in him.
