Secondary Schools in Kogi West Senatorial District on Thursday got their share of Chemistry and Physics Textbooks donated by the Auditor General for Local Government, Alh Usman Ododo under the School Adoption and Mentorship programme.

Speaking at the Occasion, the Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones said the science books have been adjudged by evaluators to be of high standard and simple to understand.
While stressing the importance of the school mentorship and adoption programme, the Commissioner called on those who had benefitted from various schools in the state to key into the project towards enhancing teaching and learning.
He read the riot act against those who will commercialize the books, pointing out that Teachers must continue to guide and mould students to be responsible leaders.
Hon. Wemi Jones, who used the occasion to educate the gathering about the giant strides of the present administration in the education sector, noted that Kogi is the first state to domesticate elongation of service for teachers.
The Government of His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello is committed to ensuring that education is revamped and returned to good old days as well as improving the welfare of teachers.
He pointed out that with the Education law, the State has recorded drastic reductions in cases of examination malpractice.
The Commissioner warned that any Principal or Teacher caught aiding Examination Malpractice, will be dealt with according to the law.

appreciated the donour as he charged teachers and parents to ensure that the books are put into good use.
On his part, the State Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Secondary School (ASUSS) Ranti Ojo appealed to public Spirited organization and individuals to key into the school adoption programme
Also Speaking, Mr. Kaseem Muhammed from ANCOPSS: described the initiative as a landmark in the history of Kogi state and solicited more commitment.
