The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on Friday demonstrated his commitment to developing the State Education sector with the approval of the sum of N316m as Bursary for eight thousand, seven hundred and fifty already cleared undergraduates.
This is coming just few weeks after the Governor Okayed harmonization of pension for Senior Citizens of the State.

The Commissioner of Education, Mr. Wemi Jones made this known in Lokoja while presenting cheque to a Kogi State indigene, Miss. Favour Oluwatimilayo Toyin Adebayo, who is currently on scholarship studying in Poland.
The Commissioner noted that students of the State origin at various law schools will receive N300,000 each, while cleared undergraduate students will receive N30,000 each in total departure of the amount obtainable before the Bursary was put on hold.
According to the Commissioner, the disbursement of the bursary will soon commence.
The Commissioner assured of the continuous support of the Governor to the sector, saying Education in Kogi state is getting the needed attention with the promise by the Governor to increase the budgetary allocation above 30%.
Hon. Jones said Governor Ododo has approved payment of WAEC fee for 18,734 students, to the tone over Six hundred million naira, saying the procedure of verification and documentation are ongoing before disbursement of funds.
He said Kogi State University Kabba has gotten Approval for the construction of certain projects, namely; the Senate building, Faculty of Science, male and female hostels at a total cost of over eight billion naira.
Similarly, the Kogi State Government has presented cheque of five Million Naira to a Kogi State indigene, Miss. Favour Oluwatimilayo Toyin Adebayo, who is currently on scholarship after winning the European Union Eramus scholarship to study in Poland.
Miss Favour won the scholarship while studying at the Nasarawa State University through an exchange program.
The Executive Chairman, Kogi State Scholarship Board, Mr. Afolabi Joseph Raji, said the State Government is committed through the Board to ensure that every Kogite, who is a student, attains academic success and become responsible.
The Chairman noted that the present administration is committed to supporting Kogi students to succeed, saying the scholarship is to complement the tuition, accommodation fee of Miss Favour in other areas of need.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of miss Favour, her father, Mr. Moses Adebayo commended the state Government for rewarding hard work.
Mr Moses also expressed profound gratitude to the Commissioner for Education and the Chairman, Kogi state Scholarship Board, for ensuring that the scholarship comes to reality.
