Former candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the 2023 election, Hon. Joshua Adejoh, has emerged as the candidate of the for the Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election.

Adejoh secured a landslide victory in the party primary election, polling a total of 13,039 votes to defeat his closest rival, Abdulkjelim Momoh, who garnered 547 votes in the keenly contested exercise conducted across the wards in the three local government areas that make up the federal constituency.

The primary election, which party officials described as peaceful, transparent and credible, witnessed massive participation by delegates and party faithful, with results collated centrally in Ankpa amid jubilation by supporters and stakeholders of the party.

Addressing party elders, women groups, youths and supporters shortly after his emergence, Joshua Adejoh expressed gratitude for the overwhelming confidence reposed in him, assuring the people that their trust would not be misplaced if elected into office in 2027.

The ADC candidate, who has contested for the House of Representatives seat over the last twelve years, said his previous attempts have equipped him with the political experience, grassroots connection and legislative exposure needed to provide effective representation for the constituency.

According to him, the people of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro have suffered years of poor and ineffective representation, lamenting that the constituency has remained largely absent in national discourse despite its enormous human and economic potential.

Adejoh decried what he described as the continued neglect of critical infrastructure, inadequate youth empowerment programmes, poor educational support schemes and the lack of deliberate legislative interventions capable of attracting meaningful federal presence to the constituency.

He promised to champion people-oriented legislation that would directly impact the lives of farmers, traders, students and civil servants, adding that his priority would be to sponsor bills and motions aimed at rural road development, agricultural modernization and improved healthcare delivery.

The ADC flag bearer also pledged to facilitate federal employment opportunities for qualified youths, push for legislation that would expand access to education scholarships and advocate for increased budgetary allocations to critical sectors affecting the constituency.

He further assured constituents that he would pursue legislative frameworks that would promote local industries, strengthen security architecture in rural communities and create enabling laws capable of attracting investors and development partners to the area.

Calling on eligible voters to obtain and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards, Adejoh stressed that the 2027 election presents another opportunity for the people to reject under-performance and elect a representative who understands their struggles and aspirations.

Party leaders and supporters at the event expressed optimism that the emergence of Joshua Adejoh has repositioned the ADC as a formidable political force in the constituency, insisting that his experience, popularity and long-standing relationship with the grassroots place him in a strong position to win the House of Representatives seat in 2027.
