The David Zacharias Campaign Council has described allegations that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) sponsored thugs to attack the Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Idah, Kogi State as false.

The Director General of the Campaign Council, Alhaji Danjuma Odiba in a statement, noted that the claim by the opposition was aimed at scoring Cheap political popularity by a sinking party as the opposition is scared of eminent defeat, hence the peddling of unfounded rumours.

“Most of the time, responding to faceless, jobless and hired writers is not the right thing to do for a seriously minded political party like the APC, but because most of these syndicated writers who do not have names and locations have the capacity of misleading very innocent Nigerians.

“The David Zacharias Campaign Council is privy to a news report trending on some social media platform that Hon. David Zacharias “used thugs to destroy office and personal effects of PDP members within Idah federal constituency”.

“This news made public by Sahara Reports is not only laughable, but a confirmation of the fact that indeed, Sahara Reports is an idle “news” platform known for fake news, misinformation and disinformation. We shall not waste time to dwell on the activities of Sahara Reports and the other platforms that have erroneously republished the report, but to set the records straight.

The statement notes that “We wish to state categorically and emphatically that the Honorable member representing Idah federal constituency, Hon David Idris Zacharias as a respected politician has never had thugs and will never start having them now.”

“The devilish and cheap allegation that David Zacharias led thugs to destroy the PDP party secretariat or had his followers to dispossess members of the drowning PDP of their personal effects is not only false, but a misleading, devilish, malicious, fake and dangerous concoction from the imagination of the writer and their sponsors.

It states that Hon. David Zacharias even though he has all the confidence and assurances of his supporters and good people of Idah federal constituency of being reelected, has been touring every part of the constituency canvassing for votes in the past few weeks.

“It will not be out of place to say that the opposition PDP in Idah federal constituency and its House of Representatives candidate are already shivering over the wide acceptability, massive followership, intimidating turnout at campaign rallies and heartbreaking defeat that is already eminent come February 25th, 2023.”

“We consider the sponsored publication by the PDP as one coming from people acting under illusion, a party under serious election fever anticipating defeat in the February 25th election. The intention is simple! To cause disaffection and tarnish the reputation of the lawmaker who has been peaceful, faithful and hardworking.”

While urging our teaming loyal supporters to continue to intensify their campaigns and continue canvassing across the various strata of the political hierarchy, the Campaign Council charge them to keeping showing the opposition and the naysayers the various roads, water, light, school, basic infrastructural projects executed by Hon. David Zacharias, scattered all over the four local governments.
