The Kogi state Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources has achieved tremendous growth under the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Chief Abubakar Muhammed Bashiru Gegu disclosed this while speaking on the one year in office of Governor Ododo.
Chief Bashiru Gegu said that Governor Ododo was prepared for the job, tackling insecurity and raising the state IGR especially in the mining sector.
He highlighted the revamping of the Kogi Solid Minerals Processing Company Ltd as a major feat which would guarantee effective mining operations by the state.
Chief Bashiru noted that ten 30 tons haul trucks, excavators and payloaders had also been acquired by the government.
According to Chief Bashiru, the state had embarked on characterization of minerals reserves found across Kogi in line with global best practices, providing the required data for investment in the sector.
All these efforts he said were helping to sanitize the sector and restoring security in the mining operations in the state.
He assured that Governor Ododo would continue to sustain the legacies of the previous administration while building on infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, women and youth empowerment, strengthening of the traditional institution as well as guaranteeing security of lives and property of citizens.
While appreciating the people for their acceptance, the Commissioner called for continuous support to the government at all levels, saying more dividends of democracy await the people in the years ahead.
