The National APC Youth Coalition (NAYC) has condemned strongly in totality the unjust and politically motivated suspension of the Member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, Elder Leke Abejide and four others, by the Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
This suspension, coming at a time when the lawmaker is gaining widespread commendation for his impactful representation, smacks of desperation, internal power play, and a blatant disregard for democratic norms and the will of the good people of Yagba.
Kogi ADC Reaffirms Expulsion of Kingsley Ogga as Chairman, Says Abejide Remains Party Leader
According to a joint statement by Chief Aiyelabowo Adebanji Austin, Director General, of NAYC and Comrade Charles Osagie, the National Coordinator, the witch hunt is unacceptable.
Let it be known that the mandate given to the Honorable Member was not a party’s gift but a product of the people’s trust, tested commitment, and visible delivery of democratic dividends. It is therefore unacceptable for any party platform, no matter its internal disputes, to attempt to subvert the mandate of a performing lawmaker under the guise of suspension.
The NAYC recognizes and salutes the Hon. Member’s developmental strides across Yagba East, Yagba West, and Mopamuro — from youth empowerment schemes, educational support, rural electrification efforts, to his ongoing constituency engagement initiatives. These efforts transcend party lines and are rooted in a genuine desire to uplift the people.
We urge all well-meaning constituents, youth stakeholders, and political actors to reject this suspension and continue to stand firmly by their elected representative.
The National APC Youth Coalition stands ready to partner with progressive leaders who are people-focused, development-driven, and youth-inclusive, regardless of former party affiliations. The future of Yagba is greater than the personal egos of a few political actors.
In due time, we welcome the honorable lawmaker and his teeming supporters into the progressive fold of the All Progressives Congress (APC), where his passion for service and youth development will find a more viable platform for national impact.
