Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Prof. Peter Umeadi condemned in strong terms, the attempted assassination of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah at Enugwu-Ukwu last Sunday.
Yet to be identified gunmen had attacked the Senator, killing some of his aides and security detail.
Prof. Umeadi in a statement obtained by The Drum Reporters and signed by his Media Aide Ifeanyi Afuba, expresses his heartfelt condolences to the families of victims killed in that tragedy.
The APGA Flag Bearer notes that he was touched by the gruesome murder of Chief Onyekozulu Nnoli, who died as a result of gun shots wounds sustained in the attack.
Chief Onyekozulu Nnoli was a gentleman and a lover of the arts who joined him at Nri on August 21 2021 when he hosted poets from all over the country at the Return to Idoto 3 in honour of late Christopher Okigbo. May his gentle soul and the souls of all that fell to the assassins bullet on that day rest in peace.
Prof. Umeadi laments that the targeted assassination on Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in which about ten lives were lost, was a barbaric act which did not represent the character of Ndi Anambra or the Igbo.
He urges the Commissioner of Police Anambra State to do all in his power to fish out the perpetrators of the crime and bring them to justice.
