RE – KABBA-BUNU/IJUMU FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY: APC REJECTS AYEDOGBON SHOLA, AKA CHARVID

The attention of Charvid Media Team has been drawn to an anonymous write-up published in some Online Media Houses to the effect that members of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency have finally rejected Barr. David Shola Aiyedogbon from representing them at the House of Representatives come 2023.

We would not have dignified the writer of the piece with our response, especially now that serious and hardworking aspirants are busy concluding their consultations with delegates for the fast approaching Primary elections of our great party, the All Progressive Congress. However, we desire to expose the callousness, cowardice and ignorance of the writer who hid under anonymity to exhibit an act of sheer idiocy.

It is strange and indeed, the peak of ignorance to suggest that in a democracy, a group of unnamed members of a political party would reject the candidature of a contestant in a worthless write-up published on social media, when primary elections of same party, where the window for rejection of candidates, as stipulated by law, is just five days away. We urge the faceless members of purported group to seek to reject their targeted aspirant through the ballot box and in a democratic setting, rather than seeking unorthodox and selfserving means to herald the fake and non-existent rejection of our Principal, Chief David Shola Aiyedogbon.

We state with all sense of modesty, morality and responsibility that the only way to reject a candidate, in a democracy is through the polls and not by mere fabrication and concortion of baseless publications in the social media.

We state further that a political process is guided by law. The qualification or otherwise of a candidate in an election is governed by Section 65 and 66 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)

We also educate the writer, that section 84 (1) of the Electoral Act (2022) clearly states that a political party seeking to nominate candidates for election under the Act shall hold Primaries for aspirants to all elective positions. The intention of the electoral act is that a candidate who has obtained Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms and has also been screened by a political party can only be rejected at the polls. Also, section 84(2) states the procedure for the nomination of candidates by political parties for various positions which are by direct, indirect or consensus. Any person who attempts to unlawfully do otherwise, leaves in self deceit and therefore acts in vain.

We state further that the implication of section 84(5) (a) (b) (c) and (d) is that only candidates who fail to score the highest votes in an election can be classified as being rejected by voters.

We submit that the writer acted recklessly and in arrant ignorance when he selfishly turned the law upside down to achieve a fraudulent claim. We conclude that the purported rejection of Chief David Shola Aiyedogbon is null, void and of no effect. The said rejection only exists in the imagination of the recalcitrant writer.

We say for the upteenth time that the issue of citizenship or indigeneship is a constitutional matter and not an issue that can be determined by the wilful thinking of a foot soldier who is in a voyage of his own or perhaps acting the scripts of his co-ignorant paymaster. When the leader of a group is uninformed, the followers will undoubtedly act like ignoramuses, the traits that the writer has clearly exhibited.

We refer the unguided writer to section 42(1)(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as ammended) which extensively and comprehensively addresses the right of a Nigerian to freedom from discrimination.

We educate the writer and his despirate paymaster that a member of the House of Representatives is in a representative capacity. The argument of indigeneship is irrelevant in a political process and therefore needless decipating energy on an unproductive adventure.

We advise the jobless writer to save his breath and approach the appropriate court for interpretation of our extant laws or better still , classify his worries as pre-election matters and consequently seek redress in a competent court of jurisdiction. We assure the writer that such worries will be adequately and comprehensively put to rest. The writer is advised not to sleep on his right as the law does not help the indolent person but the vigilant. When an aggrieved person, who feels his right has been breached abandones the avenue provided by law for the redress and instead resort to seeking public sympathy and blackmail, he acts based on sheer sentiments and therefore an exercise in futility.

We urge the writer and his sponsor to engage in something productive as our principal, Chief David Shola Aiyedogbon is unperturbed by the mere noise of a toothless bulldog who can only bark but lack the capacity to bite.

We conclude by saying that Chief David Shola Aiyedogbon is the candidate to beat and therefore has no time for any form of blackmail or distraction by a drowning and failed politician who can not stop this moving train.
