The Bunu Development Association (BDA) has formally unveiled plans to launch the 2026 Bunu Day Celebrations—a flagship event aimed at fostering unity, cultural pride, and sustainable development across Bunu land.
The announcement was made during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held in Okeoffin Bunu, Kogi State, convened by Hon. Duro Meseko, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairman of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI).
The meeting brought together prominent sons and daughters of Bunu, including Comrade Duro Jerry Omodara, Security Adviser to the Kogi State Government; Hon. Wemi Jones, Commissioner for Education; Hon. Nathaniel Taiwo, former Local Government Chairman; and Hon. Kayode Olowomoran, former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, among others.
In his remarks, Pastor Kolawole Johnson Folorunsho, JP, FCTI, President of the Bunu Development Association, highlighted that the 2026 Bunu Day would not only celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Bunu people but also serve as a major fundraising platform for the construction of the proposed Bunu Unity House—a legacy project envisioned to strengthen social cohesion, cultural identity, and developmental coordination within the kingdom.
Pastor Folorunsho noted that the BDA remains steadfast in its mission to drive meaningful progress through partnerships with relevant stakeholders at local, state, and national levels. He emphasized that the unity of purpose among Bunu’s political, traditional, and community leaders remains critical to achieving sustainable development goals.
“Bunu stands at a defining moment in its history. Through collective effort, mutual respect, and visionary leadership, we can transform our shared aspirations into lasting legacies for future generations,” Pastor Folorunsho stated.
The meeting concluded with a resounding call for unity and collaboration among all Bunu sons and daughters ahead of the 2027 general elections, reaffirming the community’s commitment to peace, development, and inclusive growth.
The 2026 Bunu Day Celebrations are expected to attract dignitaries, traditional rulers, political leaders, youths, and community stakeholders from across Nigeria and the diaspora, setting the stage for renewed momentum toward a stronger and more prosperous Bunu Kingdom.
