The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the November 2023 Governorship election in Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye, has suspended campaign activities over the death of Mr. Akin Banks Adeyinka, a prominent son of Okun Nation.
Senator Dino Melaye expressed shock over the passing of Mr. Akin Banks, whom he described as a patriotic Nigerian and dedicated stakeholder who remained dedicated towards the wellbeing and development of Kogi West Senatorial District of Kogi State.
“The death of Mr. Akin Banks is a devastating blow to me and a huge personal loss. Akin was a passionate and unwavering key stakeholder in the progress and development of Ogidi Kingdom and Okun nation as well as making himself available to champion the interest of all our people to the very end” Senator Melaye said.
Senator Melaye noted that as a mark of honour for Mr. Adeyinka and in recognition of his contributions towards the development, peace and wellbeing of the people, he has suspended all forms of campaign activities for the period of ten (10) days beginning from today, Monday July 3rd to Thursday, July 13, 2023.
May the good Lord grant Mr. Banks eternal rest and to his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
