As children across Nigeria celebrated children’s day, the Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, has urged the children in the state to dream big and believe in their potential for greatness.

Speaking at a fun-filled event held at the Government House in Lokoja to mark the 2025 Children’s Day celebration, the First Lady encouraged the children to embrace learning with enthusiasm, participate actively in school activities, and believe in their ability to achieve greatness.

Mrs. Ododo who was visibly impressed by the various academic and non-academic presentations by students, expressed satisfaction that the government’s investment in the education sector was beginning to yield positive outcomes.

She noted that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo remains committed to making the necessary investments and implementing impactful policies, including the free education policy of the government to harness the vast human resources of young people in Kogi state.

The First Lady pledged to champion access to free and quality education for every child in the state.

“I promise to relentlessly use my voice to open doors and create more opportunities for our children. My dear children, continue to dream big, your future is very bright. Do not let your background limit you, and never forget your roots,” she said.

Mrs. Ododo also emphasized the collective responsibility of stakeholders in tackling hunger, abuse, poverty, and other threats to the future of children in the state.

She encouraged the children to remain committed to their academics and to show compassion to less privileged peers, reminding them that the world always rewards kindness.

Hajia Sefinat appealed to teachers across the country to remain exemplary role models to students and children in their care.

Over 1000 assorted school bags, textbooks, and writing materials were gifted to the children at the event which also witnessed the cutting of the children’s day cake.
