Ex-Presidential Aspirant in the 2023 General Elections under the platform of Accord Party, Dr. MD Eseyin has blamed the current economic woes of the country to current State of Nation Is a Result of Years of Neglect, Mismanagement and Lack of Accountability.

Dr. Eseyin in a statement forwarded to The Drum Reporter on Saturday said the current economic challenges have been existing for long without deliberate action to curtail it.

The statement reads “the state of affairs in Nigeria has left many citizens wondering how our country got into this mess. The challenges we are facing, from the high cost of living to the devaluation of our currency, have been a long time coming and have deeply affected the lives of many people.

“One of the pressing issues that has contributed to the current state of affairs in Nigeria is the high rise in commodity prices and the standard of living. Many Nigerians struggle to afford basic necessities as the cost of goods continues to skyrocket. The country has also become a dumping ground for products produced outside our borders, undermining local industries and contributing to the economic challenges we face.

“The devaluation of our currency, with the dollar now almost two thousand naira, has had a significant impact on the purchasing power of Nigerians. This devaluation is in part due to the lack of local content in our economy, as products imported from abroad dominate the market and weaken the value of our currency.

“Moreover, the focus of our leaders on the next election rather than addressing the pressing issues at hand has further exacerbated the situation. Subsidy removal has led to an increase in the prices of essential commodities and transportation, putting a strain on the already burdened citizens. The lack of concern for the welfare and security of the people, which should be the primary aim of the government, has left many feeling neglected and vulnerable.

“It is clear that the current state of affairs in Nigeria is the result of years of neglect, mismanagement, and a lack of accountability on the part of our leaders. If we are to move forward and create a better future for our country, we must address these underlying issues and hold our leaders accountable for their actions.

“It is time our leaders prioritizes the well-being of the people and focuses on building a more inclusive and sustainable economy. Only by working together and demanding better from our leaders can we begin to address the deep-seated challenges facing Nigeria and pave the way for a brighter future for all citizens.
