Dr. Tunde Ibiteye, in collaboration with Medical Initiatives for Africa, will hold a two-day medical outreach for residents of Ekinrin-Adde community in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State on September 25 and 26, 2026.
The programme is aimed at providing accessible healthcare services, promoting preventive health awareness, enabling early detection of common health conditions, and delivering medical interventions to community members who may otherwise struggle to access specialised care.
DAY ONE: SCREENING AND TREATMENT
The first day, September 25, will focus on health education, medical screening and treatment. Activities will include awareness creation on the prevention and early detection of breast and prostate cancers, with ultrasound scans provided for both; screening of adults for cataract, hernia and hydrocele; screening, counselling and treatment support for hypertension and diabetes; deworming and vitamin A supplementation for children; treatment of malaria in children and adults; and general health assessment and consultation for community members.
Organisers say the day is designed to strengthen preventive healthcare awareness while identifying cases that may require further medical or surgical attention.
DAY TWO: SURGERIES
The second day, September 26, will focus on surgical procedures for patients identified during the previous day’s screening. Planned procedures include cataract surgery, hernia surgery and hydrocelectomy for eligible patients. All surgeries will be subject to medical assessment and eligibility clearance by the attending medical team.
WIDER COMMUNITY PLAN
The Ekinrin-Adde outreach is one of several initiatives championed by Dr Ibiteye as part of his commitment to grassroots development. Organisers say it marks the first phase of a broader healthcare programme that will extend to other communities across Ijumu constituency, with the goal of bringing basic screening, preventive education and treatment closer to residents with limited access to specialised medical services.
The organisers described healthcare as a key pillar of community development, noting that preventive medicine, early diagnosis and timely intervention can significantly improve health outcomes. They said the collaboration is expected to deliver immediate medical assistance while encouraging a lasting culture of regular health screening in the area.
Residents of Ekinrin-Adde and surrounding communities have been urged to take advantage of the outreach and participate actively.
