The Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Families Development Association (AFEFDA), a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting the families of serving, retired, and fallen heroes of the Armed Forces across the country, has officially endorsed Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Executive Governor of Kogi State, for a second term in office.
The endorsement was announced during a virtual meeting chaired by the President and Founder of AFEFDA, Mr. Shamsudeen Sarki, with representatives from all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in attendance.
In his address, Mr. Sarki commended Governor Ododo for his proactive and decisive leadership, particularly in the area of security. He lauded the Governor’s efforts in reshaping Kogi State’s security architecture to better protect lives and property. “Security is paramount, and Governor Ododo has shown he understands the urgency and seriousness of protecting the people,” he stated. AFEFDA also recognized the Governor’s commitment to the welfare of military families, particularly his pledge to support the families of fallen heroes who paid the supreme price in defense of the state—an assurance made during the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in Lokoja the state capital.
Mr. Sarki further praised the Governor’s personal engagement with troops on the front lines, which he described as a rare and commendable show of solidarity and leadership aimed at restoring peace to areas affected by insecurity.
In addition, the Association extended its support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing the positive reforms and interventions initiated under his leadership. “Tinubu and Ododo deserve a second term to consolidate on the good work they have started,” Sarki affirmed.
Mr. Sarki also applauded the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Chief of Defence staff (CDS) the Service Chiefs soldier’s and all sister agencies for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation and combating insurgency.
He emphasized their role as crucial to national stability and commended their dedication to protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty and citizens.
In conclusion, Mr. Sarki urged Nigerians to remain security-conscious, law-abiding, and to report any suspicious persons or movements to the appropriate security personnel. He called on all Kogi residents especially the families of ex-servicemen and women to support Governor Ododo’s leadership and policies. He also encouraged eligible citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to participate actively in the forthcoming elections.
